Kate Winslet's Children Can't Wait To Play Oscar

'The Reader' star, who was named Best Actress at the Academy Awards on
Sunday, has revealed her children are desperate for her to bring home the prestigious award so they can pretend they have won a prize.

Kate (who is married to 'American Beauty' director Sam Mendes) said: "My kids are waiting for me to bring home an Oscar. It's great because with my husband's Oscar we now have a pair. They love playing with my awards and this means they get to hold one each. I might just try and hang on to it for a while myself though."

The 33-year-old actress has two children, 8 year old daughter Mia from a previous relationship and son Joe, 5, with Sam.

Kate who has also won two Golden Globes and a BAFTA this year, revealed during her acceptance speech she dreamed of winning an Oscar since she was a child.

She said: "I'll be lying if I say that I have not prepared a version of this speech since the time I was eight and in the bathroom and this trophy was a bottle of shampoo. But it's not a shampoo bottle anymore! I feel very fortunate to have made it from there to here."
